Coping with dry eyes was dragging me down

I consider myself a very lucky person the day I rang Buchanan Optometrists. It’s fair to say that I was at the time in a very bad place.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with blepharitis and dry eyes. I was doing everything that I was told to do and throwing all sorts of medication into my eyes but things were gradually and most definitely getting worse. My left eye had mucous across the surface of the eye and my right eye was red and literally running like a tap. I had severe discomfort and pain in my Left eye that I can only describe was like having a red hot brick in my eye.

Coping with this on a daily basis was most definitely dragging me down physically and mentally. I didn’t feel that I wanted to go out and on occasions didn’t feel safe to drive.

I made the phone call, and due to my symptoms was offered an appointment the same day. I had a consultation with Alisdair who said ‘ we can sort this out for you’. Within a few days of me seeing him the discomfort and pain had gone. I’m a born worrier and in the three or four weeks after that first visit I rang Alisdair on numerous occasions. He never once made me feel uncomfortable, or that I was being a nuisance for ringing him. Each time without fail he told me to go on in and he thoroughly checked my eyes out. He even rang me on occasions to check that everything was alright and I was happy.

It’s now two months since my first visit and my eyes look and feel so much better. In fact several people have commented on how good they look.

Three weeks ago Alisdair gave me an eye test. Gill helped me and gave me advice on lens shapes. She then measured me with the aid of the highly technical equipment which they have. I now have a lovely pair of new varifocal spectacles with blue tinted lenses which I’m absolutely over the moon with. I’ve had varifocals previously but certainly nothing like these.

Both Alisdair and Kathryn are true professionals, and totally proficient in the fantastic work that they do. In fact all the team at Buchanan’s are courteous and caring. Nothing is ever too much trouble. From the moment that you walk through the door and you’re greeted by Sean you are made to feel very special and you know you are in safe hands.
