Modern Headlights 'Blinding Drivers' says RAC
A RAC survey found that two-thirds of drivers are regularly dazzled by oncoming headlights, with the majority saying it takes up to five seconds before they can see again. That means that if you were travelling at 60mph, you would cover 134 metres! Of 2061 surveyed 15% said they nearly suffered a collision.
Pete Williams of the RAC said
"The intensity and brightness of some new car headlights are causing difficulty for other road users. Headlight technology has advanced considerably in recent years, but while that may be better for the drivers of those particular vehicles, it is presenting an unwanted, new road safety risk for anyone driving towards them or even trying to pull out at a junction."
