FREE Glaucoma Event
IMPORTANT GLAUCOMA NEWS
Did you know that 10% of people currently receiving treatment for glaucoma lose more of their sight each year? Don't be one of these statistics. Correct diagnosis, monitoring and with the right control, you needn’t lose any eyesight.
How do you make sure you are getting the best treatment for your glaucoma?
Is there anything you could do to help prolong your sight?
Is the hospital glaucoma monitoring system adequate?
For the 2017 glaucoma awareness week this is your personal invite to a FREE Glaucoma event;
Glaucoma - Your questions answered.
Tuesday 13th June 10.30am at Buchanan Optometrists.
The aim is to answer all your questions about the condition as well as surprise you with a few things you can do at home to help your glaucoma.
Some of the topics we will talk about include;
- Is a routine hospital check-up adequate enough to save your sight and monitor your glaucoma?
- What are the latest treatments for glaucoma? Are drops still the best answer? We will speak of laser treatments, stents, and contact lenses.
- Can what you eat and how you exercise affect your glaucoma?
- Do vitamin tablets help?
- How do you know if your glaucoma is progressing and how to prevent it.
We are aware the hospital glaucoma departments don't have enough time to allow you to ask questions you may have. There will be a chance to ask any questions to the room or privately to one of our optometrists at the end of the 40-minute talk.
If you don't have glaucoma, you are still welcome to attend. By the time we reach 80 years of age, 1 in 10 of us will have developed this sight-threatening condition, so it helps for everyone to be informed about what to do to help prevent glaucoma silently stealing your sight. If you have a family history, are diabetic, are of black, African or Caribbean decent or very short sighted you are at increased risk of developing glaucoma so things you learn at this event could just save your sight.
Everyone is welcome to this free event, so please forward this to any friends or family who may be interested in joining us. Due to the size of the practice, we have to limit numbers, so RSVP on 01634 757227 to book your place now.
