Alisdair awarded Optometrist of the Year 2017

Despite leaving the lucky Tartan bow tie at home this year, for the 5th time in as many years, Alisdair walked away from the Optician Awards on Saturday with a shiny new trophy in hand. He was voted UK Optometrist of the Year 2017. With over 14,000 registered Optometrists in the UK, to be voted as the best is an incredible accolade.

The UK Optician Awards recognize the best in the UK Optical industry. Voted for by a panel of industry experts, the top 6 in each category are shortlisted and the overall winner announced at a prestigious ceremony in April each year. To even make the top 6 is our equivalent of an Oscar nomination! 

Having won four practice awards before it was Alisdair's cutting edge approach to detecting eye diseases and treating dry eye that won the attention of the judges to vote him as the Optometrist of the year. Alisdair is the first Optometrist in the UK to introduce Triggerfish Glaucoma monitoring and one of the only practitioners trained in E-Eye dry eye treatment. The advanced technology he has introduced to the practice to enable the highest levels of eye examination and early eye disease detection was commended by the judges, but they particularly noted 'the lengths he goes to ensure that he and his team care for every client to an exceptional standard.'

Although for us it seems to be becoming the norm every year to be winning these prestigious awards we are reminded that we are the only practice in the UK to have been in the top five practices for eight years now. Most opticians are happy with a single nomination in their careers but we are constantly striving to improve the services and clinics we are able to offer you all and this has again been recognised by the judges. Our progress would not be possible without our wonderful team and you, our lovely clients that continue to support us. We once again thank all those who have kindly provided testimonials of their experiences here and content for our website as it all contributes towards the judge's decision.

Alisdair currently carries out our top level of eye examinations (the Comprehensive Ophthalmic examination) as well as specialist dry eye treatments (E-Eye) and Triggerfish glaucoma monitoring in select clinics throughout the week.
