In 1999, Alisdair Buchanan bought a well-respected optician, and Buchanan Optometrists was born. Since then, a change of location and over £650,000 investment in the latest technology now means they offer you the best eye care.  Fast forward to today, and you’ll find that a powerhouse of ophthalmic excellence is nestled in this small community. Multi-award-winning and voted as the best Independent practice in the UK and Optometrist of the Year.  It is a destination for those who value their eyesight and want to wear something beautiful on their faces.

In 2020, Buchanan Optometrists teamed up with Audiologist Eilene Dyason to apply their same principles and offer the same expert care in hearing and Audiology.  

Specialising in advanced glaucoma care, dry eyes and bespoke tailor-made spectacles have placed Buchanan Optometrists in the elite of British Optometry.

Husband and wife team Alisdair and Kathryn Buchanan have won numerous awards over the years, including being voted as the best Independent practice in the UK at the National Optician Awards, and Alisdair Buchanan beat off competition from 14,000 optometrists to be awarded UK Optometrist of the year. They have also won the National Optician Award for Technology practice of the year and Premium lens Practice of the Year. As you might expect from this, the practice boasts state-of-the-art equipment to detect eye disease early, the finest lenses and best-measuring systems available, and good old-fashioned customer care.
